Our dear friends P + S are due anytime now. \u00a0 Their baby is fiercely loved already, and was prayed for most intently. \u00a0When I got news of their baby shower, I asked S if the hostess was “crafty.” \u00a0She said, “sadly, no!” \u00a0So of course I offered to contribute some decorations. \u00a0S runs the ND Graduate Student Spouse and Partner Craft Club with me. \u00a0We meet once a month, on a semi-remote part of campus to unite crafters from all countries and crafting capabilities. \u00a0I have to admit that I was a bit intimidated at the thought of crafting decorations for S’s shower. \u00a0S loves crafting so much that her bachelorette party entailed crafting of all varieties. \u00a0 When I asked her to come up with a theme, she and P chose “stock baby’s library.” \u00a0I asked P + S what their favorite childhood book was, and P said “Where the Wild Things Are.” \u00a0(sorry, S, I didn’t know what to do with “The Quiet Cricket.”) \u00a0So, as with any DIY project, I turned to Pinterest for some “pinspiration.” \u00a0I wanted to narrow down some of the colors, so I asked S what the nursery theme was. \u00a0She replied with “pastel, aztec, western, forest animals,”<\/p>\n

WHAT? \u00a0(S and I had a good laugh about this.)<\/p>\n

So I incorporated the pastels, and the aztec into this BOOK theme baby shower. The results are these:<\/p>\n

DIY details included: \u00a0Cutting up an older version (ebay) of P’s favorite book and crafting several decorations. \u00a0Letter B, bookmark favors, paper mache fabric covered books, wishes for baby cards, advice for P + S cards (these were really funny) arrow skewers for the food table, fabric strip garland, front door decoration, “king of all the wild things” sign, and gold crowns individually sized for P + S + Baby bump.<\/p>\n

Activities included: Scattergories: baby edition, and an adult coloring station for baby b’s first ABC book.<\/p>\n
