About Me

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”       –Maya Angelou

Two miscarriages and a subsequent year of unexplained infertility inspired me to write and eventually share our story in this space.  2016 was a year of loss for us, and 2017 left us wondering if we would ever have a child of our own.  On our “we don’t have kids so why not?” bucket list vacation to Ireland, we found out that we were pregnant again after a year of not being able to conceive.  On March 16th, 2018 we welcomed our rainbow baby, Fiona into this world and began the parenthood chapter of our lives.

I’ve been a Neonatal ICU nurse for 8 years as a graduate from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!)  I met my husband in a wedding in 2011 and we married in April of 2013.  Tony has his PhD in clinical psychology from Notre Dame (Go Irish!) and is currently doing a post-doctorate research fellowship specializing in sleep deprivation, emotions and memory.

Outside of my relationship with infertility and parenthood, I am an enthusiastic crafter and love to restore and up-cycle furniture.  Our family of five including our two cavalier king Charles spaniels is currently residing in Boston, although we will always call the Midwest home.

If you are here because you or someone you know is on a similar journey to parenthood, I hope the words you read bring you some sense of understanding and peace.

Here’s to hoping and seeking joy, in all moments of this journey we call life-

Kate
